Last year we published a list of WordPress Plugins we use in our projects. There are so many excellent extensions available today, and we thought we’d share some of our favorites for 2014. This post will be updated whenever we find a new Plugin worth sharing.
Simple Real Estate Pack
A very cool plugin that includes a number of awesome tools for real estate like refinance calculators, mortgage calculators, listings map, school listings, and financial tools.
TablePress
A super popular plugin that makes it easy to create a table inside a WordPress post or page. Need to show data in a tabular format? This plugin makes it easy. There is also the less popular Websimon Tables as an alternative.
FitVids for WordPress
Every once in a while we deal with a WordPress site that is responsive, but doesn’t handle video embeds in a responsive way. This plugin automatically takes your existing videos, and scales them to the appropriate dimensions. While this can be handled with code, it’s nice to drop in one site-wide solution.
Events Manager
A fully featured events manager plugin for WordPress with plenty of customization options.
Google Pagespeed Insights for WordPress
A useful tool for analyzing your web site and getting an instant scorecard on your sites speed.
Manual Image Crop
This is cool! How often have you wanted to have a different thumbnail image than your detailed photo? This plugin makes that possible, while retaining your default image sizes for your theme.
Easy Pricing Tables
Drop-in pricing tables for WordPress.
iframe
Every once in a while you’ll find a time when you need to embed an iframe. This tool gets the job done.
WP Glossary
While there are fancier plugins for creating an online glossary, this one gets the job done and is free.
Shortcode Columns
This one is awesome! You can embed columns (that are responsive) and apply padding on any side.
Simple Mortgage and Loan Calculator
If you need a simple mortgage loan calculator this one does the trick (note, it does not support adjustable mortgages, but who wants those anyways?).
W3 Total Cache
An excellent caching plugin that is widely used in the WordPress community. Fairly easy to set up.
WP Super Cache
A more recent addition to the cache plugins. This plugin is probably one of the best for caching as it generates static html files of your site. Note: We have had occasional issues setting this plugin up. Please be sure to backup your site first as it can mess with the wp-config.php file leaving you with a white screen.
Comment Rating Field Pro
A simple and elegant (paid) plugin for WordPress that will enable comment ratings.
Google XML Sitemap Generator
A simple, but useful plugin for generating an XML sitemap.
Simple Staff List
If you need to display a staff list on your site, this plugin is highly customizable and easy to use. It also has good reviews from several other developers.
